As the coastal community access station, our goal is to serve a broad spectrum of coastal residents, local governing bodies, non profit organizations, and local businesses.

We offer local businesses opportunities to positively promote their business on TV and on the web while supporting MCTV’s ability to do local productions.

While some of the money needed to operate MCTV comes from cable TV subscribers fees (5% of TV bill) which Comcast collects and turns over to the City of Fort Bragg and the county. The city and county government currently give us a share of the income from subscribers but that share covers only about 50% of our expenses.

About half of the remaining money needed (about $60,000) comes through our low cost production services, underwriting, donations and memberships are needed to fill in the gap and to make it possible to produce community programming that has no funding source, such as the school related productions.

Underwriting MCTV productions is way to reinforce positive associations for businesses to an appreciative audience while at the same time making it possible for MCTV to produce community based programs.

There are currently a few opportunities for underwriting: programming on Channel 3, Programming on Channel 64, and now on our Videos on Demand pages.

Channel 3 Underwriting

Last spring underwriting by local business helped make it possible for MCTV to produce seven programs featuring Fort Bragg's young people. There was such a positive to the productions from so many people that we hope to produce the "Celebrating Our Young People Series" again this year - we hope the series will become an annual spring tradition.

This years's series will have 6 programs, including the Fort Bragg High School Band, the High School Chorus, and Graduation; middle school promotion; Dana Grey Fine Arts Night; the sixth program is not finalized.

Each of the six programs will air a minimum of 4 times in the first month, and it will be able to be viewed on our Video On Demand pages on our website. The programs are played at the other community stations in Ukiah and Willits as well.

The full Series underwriter = $600.
A Single program in the series = $125

All Underwriters will be acknowledged at the beginning and end of programs. Series Underwriters will also be an acknowledged daily on channel 3 from April 30 through June 30. We will produce 30 second acknowledgements for the underwriters.

Individual program underwriting for Celebrating Our Young People is still available for Middle School promotion and High School Graduation.

Channel 64 Underwriting

Channel 64, or Info 64 as we like to call it, is the local information TV channel for residents and visitors to the coast.

Channel 64 can be viewed by visitors in many of our motels and inns on the coast as well as residents living on the coast between Cleone and Albion Ridge.

Info 64 is available to announce upcoming events, to provide information on a variety of activities here on the coast.

All announcements and informational programming on channel 64 repeats several times a day giving ample opportunity for the information to be viewed.

In the last quarter of 2009, MCTV began providing on line access to the programming we produce. We are seeing big increases in the number of visits to our site, the number of pages visited and the number of videos being watched.
